Actually, no, I wasn't the organizer, or maybe I was, I didn't come up with the original idea though so I'm not gonna claim "full orgainzer" - I just collected the stuff and put the webpage up that had the releases. partially messed up by SOMEONE releasing his bit outside the compo (against the rules, you know.) Facepalm isn't very good at keeping threads, so I'll have to see who WAS the organizer. We never got the Amiga entry converted, the guy who was gonna do that never got back to me with a conversion, and it NEVER ran on my machine. The others I captured and heck I have them here at work on a USB drive, but it wouldn't be good to let the drama queens not have something to bitch about, so I'll wait at LEAST a day. (Plus I'm migrating the server they sit on, oddly, today. (: Thanks for the heads up, Mr. Sinus Scroller (: )

Hell, did we even vote yet? (:

CreamD? Well well, look who's talking. Admit you're just jealous of Truck for holding back the results for much more time than you usually do :D

Sir Garbagetruck was the organizer of this compo, yes?

threaten to start a facebook page demanding the results.. it was so funny and uplifting that I had finally sacrified those few night hours of my life to finalize the results.. of RRGC...

Guess we'll never find out who won this one.

OK, I just mailed the organizer on fb again - I wonder what happened back then... Everything seemed to be almost ready.

Seeing that Dane just bumped the Rambo-compo asking for the results, got me thinking about delayed compos, so I might as well bump this one and ask when the voting phase will start? ;)

User Comment

what shadow says...

User Comment
Submitted by Shadow on 25 May 2011
Well, to clarify - I really have no desire for the videos, but if I recall correctly the "official" word was that voting would begin once the videos was uploaded, so that's why I asked.
For me I'd be just as happy with a "download the damn things and run them on your computer/emulator, then vote"-approach. :)

Well, since you went all newschool and made it a "Facebook" compo, it's only natural that people demand youtube links aswell :-D

I'm surprised no one demanded a twitter channel or something.

Actually I do have them, and they're going up, and there has been this thing called 'Life' that has taken it's toll. There was one Amiga entry, it didn't run on my machine so I couldn't capture it, but one of the guys who competed did. Anyway. I'll try to get them up on Youtube soon. (seriously, though, the complaint is that we didn't get them on YOUTUBE? What planet is this? Why isn't the complaint that people are using emulators? (yes I recorded from original hardware.) )

User Comment
Submitted by Shadow on 25 May 2011
Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed with the organizers of this, I thought there was going to be videos uploaded to Facebook and then some public voting. Instead - nada.

User Comment
Submitted by Yazoo on 25 May 2011
i guess there will never be any results. well...

User Comment
Submitted by celticdesign on 8 May 2011
still no results? where are the amiga entries?

User Comment
Submitted by Conrad on 27 March 2011
So... were there any results done yet? :) Or was it just a fun event?

User Comment
Submitted by Tom on 8 March 2011
Well, maybe I am to dumb to do it...

wanted to vote some intros because I like them all... was a lot of fun to do my part to that event and I am surprised that there are still so many real good coders active on the 64 (shame on me that I only used 21 year old code - but never released :) ).

Great work guys !

PS: maybe someone can help me with the voting ? As soon as I am logged in the list with the attendands is away. Logged off -- everything is fine but I can not vote...

Was a load of fun to collect the stuff and encode it - I hope the encodings work for some folks, they're all off actual hardware and not a lame emulator.

And we have ALWAYS had cracktros. At least where _I_ was in the states, we called 'em cracktros. Cuz they were the intros on cracks. And WHO GIVES A SHIT WHAT YEAR THE NAME CAME INTO EXISTENCE ANYWAY (: Someone's gotta bitch about something - and you KNOW someone's gonna say these all sucked because they didn't have 3d explosions and video playback and other crap. They were, and are, fun, and I should go drink beer now (:

Voting will be by "Likes" on the compo page on fb, open for 2 weeks after the deadline.

Would be cool, but C64 has never had cracktros.

this is the text @ facebook:
----------------------------

UPDATE: Due Datastorm2011 will be hold from 4th Feb to 6th Feb and there are some sceners that would like to release a production on both events, the new deadline for the cracktro is delayed until 26th February. So, almost 2 months to make it possible :)

Dear sceners,

an easy way to re-activate part of the scene, it is to have a compo with a clear objective.

I think in something doable and easy:

OLD SKOOL CRACKTRO COMPO (C64 and Amiga)

Cracktro style: is only one effect/part with text, a logo/gfx and music.

Rules for Amiga:
- 5 bitplanes (32 colors max)
- NO chunky2planar
- YËS chunky2copper
- 2D/3D objects must to use lines by blitter
- Filling the objects must to be done by blitter
- Chiptune 4 channels
- NO AGA

You can code/pixel/compose using a real computer or an emulator.

check flashtro.com to get inspiration or also check some of the posts.

Deadline is not fixed yet, we accept suggestions.

are you in?

The organizer is an Amiga scener, hence the name! :-)
