SIDs that aren't in HVSC yet: post here

While adding Music Preview, the thought occured to me that it might be handy to have a forum thread that holds references to entries of which the SID is not yet in HVSC.

Hereby.

Trivial Is Back
Unripped tune in part 1, composed by The Big X, arranged by The Big X and The Leader.

Turbo Hack V1
Part 2: Jinks drum-track only. Music part deliberatly removed by k12 and me, god knows why..., Don't rip! :)
Part 3: Lightforce remix (in the original player) probably by Drake.
Part 6: Hubbard remix (in the original player) by Drake. (Thundercats?)

Archmage, you mean The Last Compo™? They should be all in. In case you're looking for your own entry, it's here:
/DEMOS/M-R/Pixel_Hell_Level_9.sid.

Deliver two more tunes and you'll get your directory just like every other good composer! ;-)

I take it back, i don't think they're so worthy, they're just few bytes hacked in the original hubbard songs.
What's worse is that lightforce has also bad data at $fd30 due to a reset rip, so i'd say NO to both.

Nice find. One Vans sid is already in,
/DEMOS/0-9/64x8_Logo-Editor.sid
but I found that the one in this mag has better initial notes and helped to fix it.
Missing one, not having a better title for it will be Newsflash_2_tune_2.sid, and Vans now have a directory by his own.

and to clear things more, Steppe said here
Magascene #2
that MSK/Raster-Eating.sid sounded familiar to him and now I know also the reason. It's already in HVSC but onefiled in /MUSICIANS/X/Xayne/Double_Trouble.sid. I found it again here
Timewaster 2
and decided to investigate further.
It was not included because rules wants
1) sids of games onefiled when possibile, even by different authors (STIL entry will define which subtune is by which author)
2) not to duplicate sids when not needed. Authors can always ask to have it also separated if they want.

I'd say that no one will object if I keep even MSK/Raster-Eating.sid as a separate file and link it into STIL.txt to xayne's sid :)

Don't hold your breath for the next update (probably in december) but be assured that every sid that we find uploaded here, crap or not, will be in HVSC, if not specifically asked to not include/remove it (only if there's a good reason to remove it...)

Cyberbrain's digisids added.
"Say Ooh!" and "The Coming!" are questionable, contain just a single looped sample, they're not used in a "mod-tracker" way so they're not going to be added. I hope you understand the difference and the reason we won't add them.

hmm... this is a Frequently asked question: there are dozens of such crappy (in my personal opinion) digi mixes done with DAISY or Speech Basic... Search for example for The 2nd society, 4753 Softcopy "DJ Collection" and so forth.

I don't have the will and energy to rip them because I don't think they deserve a place in HVSC.

We live in democracy, so let's vote if you want them included =)
Also, if you wan them in, rip them and send, thanx. :D

That's weird, I remember clearly I already ripped it and sent just after the demo release. It has a curiosity that music data are split, part at $1000, part at f900.

Café Odd

its a reflextrakker tune (a very early version, but should work with standart playroutines).

Done right now, provide a correct title for it, else "Café odd (end)" will be used.

I added this file to the database (courtesy of the jazzcat collection, i tip my hat to you sir!) and i believe the (quite bad) music is not in the hvsc, could you double check?

The ADSR Experience

Also check the following: Corruption Special Edition
could you tell me which tune by a-man that is?

It sounds like
MUSICIANS/A/A-Man/Mysterious_Worlds_level_3.sid

but it isnt.

And how about the first tune in Satanic Ritual

Maybe premature, but all the searching techniques i know (using memory with Ultraedit and Total Commander) can not seem to locate the tune.

I believe the tune resembles patterns made by Kent Patfield (aka Patto or Pearl.), but i cannot seem to find it.

I might edit this post late coz i have not yet seen the rest of the demo...

Japmaster's ADSR_Experience.sid added to the update.

A-Man's sid is called Blue_Moon.sid, was recently ripped and it's already in the update.

Automatically? no, I wish. But I and *some* other HVSC members monitor CSDb daily to find more stuff to rip and add. The great part of other members are busy contacting authors gathering informations and whatnot. This thread is very useful, at least now I know there are some people interested in adding every possible sid file out there. Would be more useful if authors send sids by themselves, but most don't care. Very few authors contact us to send their new stuff so we have to scrub releases and happens to do repeated searches in the same rel over and over again, as demonstrated by latest replies here, just to find a damned single sid that was "forgotten".
ok, enough whining, end of rant, goodnight.

I am having one of those moment again where either i am being really really dumb, or i just found a couple of new sids.

Please take a look at: Ingenious Brain #5

There are a lot of tunes in this magazine, and they all have several chapters where they play. I cannot find 3 of the tunes featured in the magazine.

A Tune by Parson/Equinoxe (open addies then one of the two chapters there)
A Tune by Mac2/Amnesia (open news and then news)
A Tune by Peace/Oxyron (open news and then trsi)

I tried find these tunes in HVSC with memory searches (using Ultraedit, etc.etc.) and just by listening. I cant find it. can someone else or are these new tunes?

Perhaps Kasmo (Peace) can comment on the one in here by him?

As a side note there is a slightly different version of

There might actually be a few unpreserved tunes on the tape images worth checking for. Not sure if this is the case with Commodore Format. If I get chance, i'll have a sift through.

Had a look through the Zzap and C-format covertapes, nothing from Zzap, but a few on the CF tapes...

http://gtw64.retro-net.de/tunes.rar

cf08.tap - Top Duck contains a number of in-game tunes by Peter Clarke not in the archive. Just the title tune is currently preserved.

CF52T1S2.tap - Nibbly demo, the intro by BIB developments contains a tune by Paul Kubiszyn currently not in HVSC.

p025B.d64 - Club light demo - wasn't sure, but added it incase. There's a Future Composer tune which in the demo is said to be by Maniacs of Noise, but I couldn't find it. I'm sure i've heard it in HVSC, so this might be a red herring.

Top duck reripped, 15 subtunes&SFX are included. =)
Clublight contains /MUSICIANS/R/Rock/FIG_Again.sid. (Future composer is based on Scout.sid, hence the countless wrong attributions to MoN of many FC songs)
Added /new/MUSICIANS/K/Kubiszyn_Paul/Fanatication.sid which was missing.

Quote: No way! hunt sids or die! :)

the reason i write it here anyway is otherwise i will forget them. My next victim is: Glober

tune number one, by Maduplec, i think is not in the HVSC.

ok,ok =)
I've already prepared a HVSC52 dir to put new stuff.

Glober actually contains 3 selectable sids, nice. Who ripped it long time ago must have overlooked this. Anyway, 2 proper names found:
Glober.sid -> Ritmo_della_noche.sid
Maduplec_01.sid -> Beyond_Imagination.sid

and finally the new one will be Worldwide_Depression.sid

Celtic, you seem to be right as far as I can see.

also, MUSICIANS\M\Maduplec\Glober.sid is wrongly named,
it should be "Ritmo della noche!" as found in the demo pre-intro screen.

Info is also missing from STIL, because Ritmo della noche obviously is a cover.

And i just keep going... :)

What about this one: Hohlhippe

I believe there are two tunes by Stax in there that are not in the HVSC. Also we should rename Stax_02 intro Hohlhippe_part whatever...

could you confirm?

good question.. Ritmo de la noche.. i have no clue who originally composed that.. been googling a while, but there's a milion versions out there.

Any idea if there's a database for copyrights on composing or similar?

everything correct =)
Stax_02.sid -> Hohlhippe_tune_1.sid + released fix
and the other 2 ripped as Hohlhippe_tune_2.sid & Hohlhippe_tune_3.sid, which is always better than an unnamed and unknown sourced sid.

I think this one is the original, http://www.discogs.com/artist/Mystic
btw, Joachim Wijnhoven's Linko is a better version imoh.

Check out this tune: DEMOS/UNKNOWN/Pervo_Sex-Text_1.sid
featured in the demo Follow The Sign by Byterapers.
They say in the part where it is used: 'music by Division'.

The nest part also contains a tune by Division, one that i believe is not in the HVSC yet.

And oh yeah, perhaps if someone is in touch with JTP or Grendel they could ask em...

Perhaps this brings you closer to finding the original composer? I cant figure it out though, perhaps someone can.

yep nice find, part 2 & 3 are by this Division, too bad there isn't any info about him. Both songs are made in Ubik's music.
Anyway the 1st can be renamed/creditfixed and added the 2nd.

nope, Zardax's Tune*.sid are meant to be named like that, he named them this way, while Zardax_*.sid are those not having a title at all. Messy huh? =)
BTW it has a STIL entry already, enable STIL view in sidplay in case you didn't.

I put on STILL now :) oops for that.

about renaming:
MUSICIANS/P/Patfield_Kent/Best_of_Pearl_main.sid

was an exclusive tune for script #14, released a year before The Best of Pearl collection. The tune was credited to Bat (DJB) and in the memory at $1000 says 'zak by Bat/Musical Scandal'.

Are ya sure Kent Patfield worked on this tune?

but atleast should be renamed to Script_14

And continuing with Coococ. In the 9th issue a tune is used in the intro:
DEMOS/UNKNOWN/Dynamix_Crak.sid

which is credited to Chris. I am fairly sure this tune belongs to:
Chris

Dated 1997 despite Renaissance contains even the production date "11.09.'96", we have to use the actual release date.

Nice find.
Took me a while to fix it, they must have done something wrong trying to relocate it and they had to duplicate music data from $a800 to $c800, causing lots of badreads on my first rip attempt. After manually fixing the pointers everything's ok.

Cheers Inge, this is one of those cases where i should have listened to them all to find it out. Only short byte patterns are found (the one in hvsc is unpacked), produces different crc and even siddump shows some difference here and there on produced notes.

so this fine tune has finally been identified?
I have been wondering for years man.
anyway, it's obviously the same like thomas detert's blue angel, which you can read in the stil info,
but it's also similar to this tune: /MUSICIANS/P/Prosonix/Pettersen_Ole-Marius/Pettersen-02.sid
I just thought I'd mention.

No, but we sometimes wish it was that easy.

There are at least 40 tunes in HVSC which has the text "music and player by jch", but which in fact are not made by him. The reason for this is that people have used his musiceditor and then forgotten to remove the text from the finished tune.

nice, both confirmed as missing. VN21 tune 5 being from Sphere is just a guess from you or did you read it somewhere it's by him? Also, DJB will be asked about the song in VN#17, even him produced some editors which by default left his name in the binary.

First of all the intro, i cannot find it anywhere. Credited to Moz(ic)art, but cannot find it.

The tune in the charts chapter, which was done by a-man according to the memory cant be found either. It does keep hitting on another A-man tune though (Mysterious_Worlds_level_3)

charts: badly initialized version of /MUSICIANS/A/A-Man/Mysterious_Worlds_level_3.sid, i'll investigate on it but seems only subtune 2 is valid so they just missed an LDA #1 before init.

one is
/MUSICIANS/M/Mateus/Crash_Demo_End_Music.sid, even if data is different siddump produces the same notes.
the other is by axl (C= to switch music) and seems unripped.

Well, thats atleast one more sid :) thanks.

And going back to the mag Emphatic: the second tune (press + in menu) by Odie (sean Connoly) aint in the hvsc i think.

Maybe it would be wise to check issue 1 and three coz all others have found new tunes :)

Emphatic #6

and also the music thats played when the picture is showing in Sex'n'Crime #18

it's new too i think,

And the intro tune made by XL in Eternity #1 is also something i cannot find.

Emphatic#6 tune by Odie is /MUSICIANS/C/Connolly_Sean/Cyberwing.sid, different build, same subtunes 1-5
I'm not sure the intro digi will be included, seems just a looped sample, will have a look at it.
other issues filled with their sids, none new.

Sex&crime#18: the pic tune is missing, mysterious author: 'FEELING ALONE' BY NICK OF AIRWALK. CALL 049-75732311 FOR A TUNE
Who the hell was he? (edit: case solved quicly, early work by Jeff) =)

Eternity #1: actually missing, even if it's very short (30 seconds) i'll add it.

I don't know if the tune I would call Thalamusic in part two of this demo is in HVSC yet. The only files I find with that name are some newer remix versions, but maybe it's not even called Thalamusic? I always thought that's the name of it though... :)

Ian Coog, find them here:

All of Jeff's tunes scheduled for release until 2012. Note that the Meet Crest note tune is running in the colour ram and has additional digis if you have a 1541 ram expansion.

And NO SPREAD, please!

Been going through the process of backing all my disks up and came across a few disks with some tunes/sfx on.

Majority will no doubt already be preserved, but there might hopefully be some bits that haven't.... http://gtw64.retro-net.de/tunes.rar

If I find more, i'll post them here again.

Also i can seem to be able to run this file in vice in the last few chapters, so cant check the tunes there.

And.. in Vandalism News #13 i believe the tune by PRI is missing, well i cant find it anyways.

Finally found something missing, apparently: the tune in "DIGITS RIP" by Mayhem, music by Stax and ripped from a game(?) called Digits, quoting the text:
STAX is one of my favorite compossors
and this game had 5 different tunes by him
stored all over the memory but
here is the main title tune....

more info are needed. There's no such game on GB64 - at least not one "Digits" with music - and this rip is missing also here, I'll upload it now.

I am looking for a demo with music by Neil Baldwin: it has digidrums. According to Neil, it's his last made sid.

I had this demo, but in some madness, the D64 went missing on my harddisk, and is nowhere to be found now.

I think it was something with an english flag, at least red and blue colors on some multicolor gfx/logo..

Anyway seems to be broken, at some point reads from $1b10-1c10, where there are no music data but some leftover text, from the music editor. I've filled the area with zeroes.

@assiduous
/new/MUSICIANS/T/Tognon_Stefano/RM_512_bytes.sid
/new/DEMOS/A-F/Block_Acid_Dub_256_bytes.sid

these 2 are on hold since 2006 (!) awaiting to be fixed, they were rejected (when I wasn't the HVSC admin) as they are not working on old sidplay1 (!!) and more probably not playing correctly at all.
I couldn't be arsed about it and can include them both anyway, but adding sids that no one can play correctly it's not a great thing. Anyone want to try? We need *motivated* hackers to help.

About the other file, downloaded and put to the todo stack.

@celtic: put in the stack also Stein's Sonix 1

how old is sidplay1 ? (cant find it in csdb) -Block_Acid_Dub wont play unless you have the illegal op codes emulated correctly:-

Quoting block_acid_dub_6581.zip\readme.txt
; - Using illegal ops whenever suitable (and not just for the sake of doing it
; of course). SBX, ANC & ASR are used here and they all do "two things in one"
; apart from SBX, which is useful for subtraction with the X register, rather
; than the A-register affected by standard SBC.

You know, instead of HVSC crew having to find all sids :D

You can do this: locate the music data inside the demo/intro, which should be easy, as it looks different from all other data, then copy 32 bytes of it. Now binsearch those 32 bytes with ultraedit, on the entire HVSC.

This will answer 2 questions: if its ripped, and if, what file it is. :D

I think at least Celtic does this, but in general you're right of course. :-)

One more addition: The note/pattern table can often lead to wrong/no results at all, especially when the tune got relocated in comparision to the hvsc version. So another good hint is to use the instrument data for searching.

Talking about missing: Oldstile

Not only Oldstile and Heavenly Ride but other files from Interjam 97 disk are missing, including notes with Heinmukk tunes. Nice find.
Also please add an entry for Fzool's "D.K.M.K.B.G._F.Z" whatever it means, seems to be his oldest sid, and missing so far. Who is "ENO/PLUSH" and where's his 2nd placed tune? (check "IJ'97 RESULTS !!")
The other 2 demos will be researched tomorrow.

Edit: nevermind, Fantastic_Zool\D_K_M_K_B_G.sid won't be added in HVSC, it's just a lame ripoff of
/MUSICIANS/K/KB/Who_the_fuck_is_Aetsch.sid
played at 1x instead of 2x and even badly truncated. Shame =)
The entry should be in CSDb anyway.

On an old disk I have 3 tunes:
JAZZ/4DMAN
SUB…/PERAN
TELEPHON/PERAN

I discovered Almered Per was Peran not long after after my post. The sid Telephon is Telephone Call.

As for the track Jazz/4dman. After a search of HVSC for Jazz, it turns out to be a track by Jeff called Jazz-Test

Seems like the init pointer wasn't set properly ($00 instead of $f0), about the speed will be asked to Jeroen Tel to verify which speed is intended (VBI or CIA timing)

No need to bother JT with such a simple question.
It should be played just as in the demo. The intro is missing, yes.

ripped and now here's a question for anyone knowing old AFL members. Glenn/AFL == 2Bad/Parade == Madman/Tristar, he already had one in HVSC, now he gets his own dir.

/DEMOS/S-Z/Walk_Among_Us.sid -> /MUSICIANS/G/Glenn/

I'ts Glenn his real name? Any more info?

The sid "swamp fever" is a good sid, but it is ripped the right way. The original is with pulse sweep, and the version in hvsc is not. I hope someone could rip it the right way.

You need to update your HVSC because it's already there since August 2009 (HVSC#51), and it's even linked to the demo entry.

Guys, not something missing from hvsc, but driving me nuts nevertheless.. posting here, because I know the usual suspects here might be able to help.

Yesterday I heard a cover on slayradio “p0p – jump’n’run”,
http://remix.kwed.org/?search_id=3652
Nice cover, but I liked the original sid better from the old days.. so I looked to find that too..

Which links to the sid Jump_n_run by Stello Doussis.
http://www.c64.org/HVSC/MUSICIANS/D/Doussis_Stello/Jump_n_Run.s..
But eh? That obviously is not the sid this remix is based on.

I recognize the original sid clearly from the first loop in the opening of the remix (hence why I wanted to listen to the sid in the first place) and been trying to find the correct sid now for hours.

If I’m not mistaken the sid should have been late 80’s – early 90’s. I have checked through dirs from jens blidon, thomas detert, marcus schneider, axel siebold, marcus siebold, prosonix (all dirs), etc. hoping to find it.

Anyone with a better memory then mine able to spot it for me?

3-D Rock

In the second intro (with the TLS 1987 sprites swirling & gray rasterbars) there's this tune that intrigues me for almost 22 years now. From who is it?
It seems like a Sound/Rockmonitor tune.

Scout: No idea, perhaps TMM who is credited for the part? I can't find any match, as usual many pattern lead to a shitload of other rockmon sids but none seems even similar, I'll put it /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/. Weird use of bandpass filter btw, it's almost silent =)

Quote: Years ago I told HVSC crew that a massive number of Magic Disks/Golden Disks and Game On games are not in HVSC. Nobody was interested.

Oh! Seems we have someone a little upset here. Let me explain a couple of things.

It's no news there is a massive amount of unripped sids from demos and games.

Just saying it like you just did, well, only makes me reply "I am sure you're right." and nothing else. It's not of any help.

If "years ago" you wrote this in the same way, it's no wonder to me no one replied, at least I wouldn't be bothered to reply if I received such mail with no exact hint on what to check. "Years ago" there were 15000 sids, now they're 38000+, I'm sure some you thought missing are already in, now. Which? Dunno, can't say.

You can't expect us to scan blindly every MD issue and games, probably to find out just few out of luck, or in the worst case that they were actually already all in HVSC but YOU didn't know yet or don't know how to check for them.

We are already doing this random checking on a daily basis. For your information in the last month from update #52 we gathered already 250+ new sids and made 500+ fixes. Yes, you've read it correctly, in one month. You can't really think or say we're all lazy bums that do not care finding and adding missing sids and more importantly that we don't care replying to rip requests.

I'm checking *every day* almost all the rels uploaded here to find out new ones, fixing existing ones and also entering the sid links to CSDb entries - it's a very nice feature that let us track sids usage and history.

But you know, we also have a life, especially members with wives&children - luckily not my case =) - and free time is limited.

Just read this thread again. People say where they think there is an unripped sid, we reply, simple as that. Help us to help you. If you say/link exactly from where, which mag issue, and would also be nice to know which part of the demos etc., then stay assured you'll have a reply and see the eventually missing sid in next update(s).

We have already long lists of games to check and sids to rerip/fix, but very few are actually checked now and then. I personally find very boring to waste hours disassembling old 1984 games with spaghetti code just to extract a crappy blipp-blopp tune with no value that no one knows and will never play again after listening one time. The real problem is that we lack motivated and dedicated rippers. Married sceners refrain to apply for membership, thanks. I already know you won't be very active :P

A real help would be sending the sids already ripped, preferably stating where it was ripped from, but I know it's easier asking us than learning how to do it.

Now I checked and I don't have any mail from you at the hvsc@c64.org address, but it's only about a couple of years I'm the HVSC admin. I'll ask if some of the previous admins have your mail and/or list of rip requests, but please send it (again) just to be sure.

Thanks for the attention. =)

MUSICIANS\S\Surtax\Beat_Session_music_1.sid A-Man_V1
...etc...

DEMOS\UNKNOWN\Unknown_103.sid A-Man_V2
MUSICIANS\S\Sid_United_Artists\Airwolf-Remix.sid A-Man_V2
...etc..

One thing I noticed is that A-Man_V1 is very similar to Arne/SoundMaker_V4 so probably they're both by Arne/AFL.
Besides, nothing ever stopped anyone to disasm other players and make their own versions, there are plenty of sids made in Rob Hubbard routine and derived players (Kimmel), FC is derived from Jeroen Tel, and so on.

The first known use of the name was in 1659, in England — "To prosecute the suit, to witt John Doe And Richard Roe"[2] —, and has been perhaps as early as the reign of England's King Edward III

There is just last tune by Daw not ripped and not listed (old comments on unripped tunes should be wiped on such entries). Anyway it's a bit of a spaghetti coding this part, digis are played inbetween the raster code and should be carefully cleaned and probably recoded to make a proper sid rip.

From Wikipedia:
"Tyrian is a computer game developed by Eclipse Productions (later named World Tree Games) and published in 1995 by Epic MegaGames.
[...]
Tyrian was programmed by Jason Emery, illustrated by Daniel Cook, and its music composed by Alexander Brandon and Andras Molnar."

Andras Molnár was the other half of the group Sidbusters, consisting of Markus Müller and him.

Thanks, fixed. Do you know any release date for Twosome? Vrolik Vier can be dated 1991 if no earlier release proof is found.

Just to clear some things: this is not the only .sid that won't work in that sidplug thing, there is a *load* of .sids that need to be RSID meaning that a full emulation engine is needed aswell as an internal IRQ/NMI setup in the .sid code, and old sidplayers not supporting full emulation are not in our target anymore. We care to make .sids work in recent sidplayers and also working when converted back to prgs and run on a C64 whenever it's possible.
Modifying working .sids to make them work in old sidplayers is totally out of question, but if there is a chance that sids like this can work with a normal init/play address without breaking them, it can be done. Time and more *working* hands are the only things needed.

Ok, sids added, another one has 3 subtunes: MCA/Ingame_Tune.sid (4th sounds too weird to be valid) so I think could be even renamed to Ingame_Tunes.sid =)
Many of these are really unreleased before that 2007 collection so will be dated accordingly.
These 2 instead can be dated back:

/MUSICIANS/M/MCA/For_Nightshade.sid
1993 Focus

/MUSICIANS/M/MCA/Internal_Mag.sid
1995 Focus

While at it I corrected Collection #1
there is no trace of MCA/Vrolijk.sid there, so I removed it from the sidlist, and at this point there is nothing else that uses it so will be dated 2007 aswell.

Nope.

They are different players, so either Wartec_intro.sid is a remake of TDM's, or they both are remakes.

Please check with an original, if its bugged there too.
Else its waste of time to hack around in it.

I seem to remember that Wizardry is a pretty easy rip, so if music is fucked, it might be another orrie with birth defects, and then we cant do anything.

Yeah the original plays it correctly, I remember being amazed by that song back in the day. :) To test it start a new game, exit through the door (press cbm key) , follow the hallway up in the next room and enter the first door on the left. (with cbm key again) Should be a guardian holding a spear in that room.

This version plays it fine.

The PFK tune is /MUSICIANS/P/PFK/Digitalia.sid, subtune #1. I added it to the release. And I also added d64 images, the three current links were in zipcode format, which is a bit awkward to work with.

20 years ago I made some tunes for the game Violator by Lethal productions.
The game contains three tunes and they are in the HVSC. There is however also a sample when you start the game saying "Welcome to Violator". This sample is missing from the Violator rip in the HVSC. I hope it can be added to make this rip complete.

The tune needed to be reripped anyway as RSID to get rid of the old _PSID file. 3 tunes + initial speech ripped as singlefilers, now they need to be intelligently merged because the lot would take 59k just linked together and that's a bit too much. Samples and rockmon code are shared so it "only" needs to move around some data but can be done.

At this point why even bothering ripping sids? just add a RSID header to every prg and you'r done, right? ;)
If it's not strictly needed I prefer to have plain data visible, not only to find them back when hex searching for patterns, also because of the initial delay due to unpacking which I find annoying. I'm even replacing packed tunes already in HVSC when there's no need for it.

Although the intro tune is in HVSC, there is a second tune when you die in the game. Sounds very much like a Whittaker tune too, though i'm not sure.

Could well be other tunes locked away (Completion tunes etc).

Seems there are a total of three tunes in the game. I don't believe it's Whittaker, in 1989 he uses his own player. The player used here is much older (it says Copyright 1985 Bob Landwehr).

Right, there's a handful CGSC tunes in HVSC that actually aren't utter crap and make you want to destroy your 64 right away. If these are also used in a scene production or game of some kind we added them to HVSC.

Couldn't find it either. I vote for MSK, sounds and style are similar to his tunes (compare the Crest Avantgarde tunes, for example).

It says "SHORT INT.ZAK BY DRAX/VIBRANTS" in the player, but that may not be true, of course.

Of course I noticed. Both Drax tunes with that title (Short Intro, one in his main dir, one in the /Worktunes dir) sound completely different.

main tune in brix-o-wave by Echo, missing and added. the note uses an early version (I think) of Tjelta_Geir\Heavy_Introtune.sid
Candyland tune 4 by Cosowi and "Crap Zak" by Gangstar were missing aswell, added.

Might be I found one, but it's also possible that the intro tune is already in HVSC. Hard to say due to lack of any credits.

However, the sid (as you did) should not be added to the crack. You should head over to intros.c64.org and create another Dynamix crackintro for this, then link the tune to it and also the garfield crack.

I did it for you as an example, see here:

I have now been updating CSDb to HVSC#54, and as always it took a little manual work, but there is one little thing I would like your help to set straight.

The old tune: /MUSICIANS/M/MC_Lord/Living_Chips.sid
has been replaced by 8 other new sids in #54, and 3 releases was refering to the old tune:
16 Colour Bitmap Manager
Shocker Megademo
Living Chips

For the last one I just replaced the tune with all eight new ones, as I presume thats where the tunes originated from!?

But as I'm not sure which tunes was used in the other two releases, I have just removed the old sid from them, hoping someone will add the correct sids. :)

thanks Perff, yes the single sid was not correct because demo tunes shouldn't be onefiled, like in games, so we decided to split it to single tunes.
I've added trivia comments in the entries using the single parts, I'm going to take care of all the entries i've left comments in now.

lol! new fredrik tune? no shit?
look, I stopped bothering to check his tunes anymore, and *no one* sent his sid files to us, so far. I have way better things to do than following his half assed 10 seconds loops, but anyone is free to send properly formatted sid tunes to hvsc@c64.org. I'll just check if they're conforming, else would be trashed.

Damn, yeah, it's pratically already in the sid (it's a subtune of 1st sid tune) but rebuilding of the whole sid file is needed to add the selection. Let's hope there are no more left out.

Oh, sorry. Thanks for pointing it out. I admit I didn't check the whole Arne dir, but looked for the names Anne Clark and Our darkness. "Techno music" ain't such a specific name. As for STIL, I'm not really into it, guess I should change it, although it hasn't been updated in ages afaik.
At least the date of the SID can now be corrected ;)
