rewatched this now, boy I wish I could read those scrollers, and just leave the parts running :) gotta love the cocky texts & the bravery to put aside trackmos for pumping all cpu power into the screens. finish it please :)

Status: I asked for two weeks to fix the demo, and well.. I have done my 9 parts now, but i need your help to push Jackasser to finish that intro now ;D.

I really hate that you can't freeze the parts, but I really love the music and most of the graphics. TRON for the masses!

I know this is pretty much a demo by coders for coders and I prefer to see many of these smaller demos quite often, rather than epic 3 side demos once every 4:th year.

For me the straight winner at datastorm. Hardcore codepr0n with all these great oldschool vibes. Loved all the DYSPS, especially the one on the sideborder FPP and the vectorbobs (hcl or jackasser?) are fucking ace!
Looking forward to 1987 with rasterbar mania! ;o)

First why you don't insert a link here ? i believe a lot of ppl seeking the link for this entry here and don't want to d/L all the compo releases. strange to me. IMHO the demo show perfect oldschool effects , that myself very admire and love. sometimes simple oldschool effecr thrill me more than ziliions colors of plasma . great job and great Mulitplexers. i can say: OldSchool is back to town

Wow, great deal in timing and design. Of course i know that every part feature something special. But, for me it was not always clear in what all these multiplexers are different. Maybe some statements like "NN sprites with open sideborder and NN splits, nobody has done this before" would make a difference here.

Eventhough a noob like myself can't see the awesomeness of it on first sight, this approach is what the demoscene is/has been about. Kudos for staying hardcore and having a proper attitude.

Hardcore timing, great code and lovely oldschool effects, done in a insane way.
We did have dysp`s, spilts and multiplexers in almost every old demo we made, but not even close to this, wow!

have to admit that i am not so interested in that code pr0n stuff in this demo. 1991 was imho more entertaining in design and music.
anyway. it is a very good one. simply love those graphics by valsary - totally awesome.

i have to comment on this again as i was watching it for the 3rd time now. it really grows on me! it gets better everytime i watch it. maybe (with sideborderstuff and so on) the bigscreen / stream didnt do this demo justice. i really love it now :)

Watched it again today and I can't think of one negative thing to say about this demo. I simply love it. But then beautiful DYSPs have always given me a boner. ;)
And it contains some of Dane's best music ever. 11/10 for me.

That's some amazing shit, and so well presented with great sound (Tron! <3), really nice fonts and awesome Valsary gfx! ;-D
Some of these routines leave me scratching my head with what little i know about coding from Xbow, like those 8 sprites with open sideborders - wasn't six the limit when the border's open? Or was that just with gfx on?
Still, even with all these multiplexers, you still haven't beaten Xbow's 144 sprites record! ;-D Come on, David! 8)

P.S: Sorry, Censor, but I think this should've been #3!.. <:-)

The more I see it the more impressed I am. Love the oldschool vibes. It takes me right back to the best years of the scene. Looking forward to the spacebar version so I can enjoy each screen longer.

what a nice collection of multyplexers..
hcl opened my eyes for the beauty of multyplexers.. i think this time warp demo like 1991 and this one shows true power.. i shows the long and hard history of the c64... what was hard in the olddays can be even harder in this time.. it looks like it is easy but it is far from easy to do it like this..
i wonder what hcl can do in the year 2033.. my deepest compliments...

And with that concludes the, again reawaken FLI-mode awaiting for new ontop sprites in the 1989-edition ;) And hopefully not the revival of the chunky 94:s :))

Hardcore timing trickery here in a lot of parts. Can't really tell exactly what's going on everywhere, some parts interrupted too early. However in the 'rutig banan' effect I spotted some software sprites being plotted. :P The most interesting stuff is the afli-like splitter + dysp effect, with open borders. The Axis' bob effect, being nice, but didn't fit the 1988 theme very well. Oh, and the last part... I still love you HCL. :D

I love the demo style like this and to me this is a masterpiece in code... I think the text in the scrollers can be edited in the final version to improve the overall feeling of the splendid demo from the coders that all of us on the scene really regard as the best there is.

I think the big screen at the party didn't do this one justice. You couldn't see much of the borders.. If there's a 100% version of this coming soon, I think I'll wait to see it again. My favorite part was the bitmap stretcher also.

I LOVE OLD SCHOOOL...
I did not expect this from Booze...

damn there was a bmp linestretcher in border with dysp I wanted to do that as well... damn damn damn.. that was truuuly jaw dropping... and all sprite crunching very very interesting...

Tron Legacy sound ;) *love that*

There where alot of super high tech stuff in there with magic timeing... tricky timeing... *VERY*

Where are ze filez ;)

Somebody told me less is more?
but WTF.... I say to hell with less is more...

OOOOOOOOOOORGIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE TIME why not!

you guys just have set a new milestone in Timeing code pron...

The scene needs oldschool stuff... there is more in VIC trick than people think...

and it was very nice to meet you all..

i have seen it in the stream late at night. from what i remember it was a nice and solid production (could be called "1991 - part 2").
but somehow i did expect a little more from booze design to be honest *runs*
anyways... i will check it out again when the .d64 is online - and maybe edit my comment then.

i did enjoy watching it in the live-stream and felt entertained, and i guess thats what it is all about. good to see booze design back in business.

EDIT: ok, after watching it again (and reminding myself that we cant expect an eod all the time) i have to say that i quite like it. it touches the oldschool-fan in me. and it seems hcl really loves multiplexers ;-) so do i... also the vector-bobs and other routines seem technically superb to me (i am not a real coder).
also i like the design of the title-screen quite much.
