Quoting JSL
My pictures firstly are sent to my friends thru email, giving me feedback to correct me some things in them before I upload them here

Hmm, maybe you should send them to your enemies as well.

Uuuh, JSL QUITS SCENE? :) hehe, nahh just joking, I love to pixel and won't
give it up for some negative comments. Wizard was a quick job for Riverwash,
you might seen some faults, and sorry for the flat images, I am not that
skilled as Mirage, still I hope you do like my art, I do pay attention to
more anti-aliasing, at least this year I noticed it while pixeling, logos for
example get after drawing the chars first an Anti-Alias before filling it in.
thank you all for the comments, negative and positive. :D Internet here was dead
for several days so a bit late reaction now from me. No cats this time Leon. :D
My pictures firstly are sent to my friends thru email, giving me feedback to correct
me some things in them before I upload them here, for example in DEERS you see
a V2 made bcoz someone said the little deer's legs are cutoff in the water, walking
over the water like Jesus.. But I do miss sometimes things. Anyway, Leon, no cats in
the upcoming three pictures which are done, two of them I will upload now.. So check
them out.. ;P

I liked this picture as it is.

I can understand not liking cartoony pictures (if that's the case) but I cannot understand critisizms on "anatomy" in a picture like that. Most cartoons are ment to be anatomicly incorrect. Of course I can see some lacking things as well. But I still think this picture deserves different critisizms (not better but different).

Not sure if your comment was directed at me

No, it wasn't :)

But I really do see improvements on the technique. Yeah, the antialiasing seems to remain JSL's weak point.

(edit) @Mirage: and your latest comment, even though negative, is what I expect if a picture obviously seem to be a result of hard work and love. It's fair and far from contemptuous.

JB: Not sure if your comment was directed at me, but if it was would you care to show me an example of him listening to comments and improving on that?
I've just looked at his pictures from the past and in 2005 you mentioned that the anti-aliasing could use some work, and yet you have to say the same thing in 2008.
There were also comments about the lighting being wrong in the past - it's still wrong and all over the place today.

There is also no grasp of form and volume, the beard and moon are flat with weird patterns to make up for the lack of understanding how lighting works.

Last but not least, the dithering is a constant chessboard that doesn't even follow the direction of the surfaces.

Reading back on all of that i think i might come over as a pixel-purist, but so be it... i am just that, and i still have to learn a thing or two myself, but that doesn't mean i can't comment on a piece of art made in 2008 that could have been made by the same 'artist' 3 or more years ago.

My 2 cents ;) (and anothing smiley like in my first comment to show my good intentions and to sound more like grumpy old oswald ;)

Personally I'd rather see something imperfect yet original and/or creative rather than a highly polished copy/wire. And yeah, yeah, "everybody copies" is the current trend, but there are subtleties. Wiring/copying is like taking a photograph of a painting, IMO. Unless you add something significant or have a specific purpose for doing so, why bother? And quote your references in any case. :-)

Maybe JSL's pictures aren't the best around but he's trying and doing OK stuff. What's even better, he's listening to the comments and constantly improving.
So I guess, fair and constructive criticism would suit him much better than a bridled up, derogatory sentence.
Oswaldbogár is at least grumpy in a fun way.

By the way, the motive is interesting. Technically far from perfect but this outlined toony style might limit the graphician. I'd work more on the antialiasing.
And I really hope that the negative comments won't let you down, JSL. As long you're enjoy it and see that even one person loves your work, just go for it!

Come on, Tempest... Even you have to see the brilliance of the great white flat pancake in the sky and the broken fingers! ;)

Great warmth on the wizard against the gloomy setting of night. Good stuff!
