Uhm, the gif above is basically the whole 'demo'.
I don't like the high pitch tones in the SID that Geir mentioned.

Back as a kid, Chessboard pixels in single color used to look like some weird smear of urky colors.

This one is splendidly smooth and as cool as I imagine the drink is in the hand of the driver :)

btw, 50-50% checkerboard mix of white/black will look like ??? on a real crt, but certainly not like on the screenshot.

"does csdb really need idea & concept & design"
infact this particular release made me wonder if we wouldnt need "fullscreen idea", "onefile concept" and "multicolor design" aswell. really a shame that i cant add those as tags :(

@Ventura: so you are an attention-whore? lol. Hope you enjoyed it then. ;)

@Leon: sorry, we don't have more :)

@Sid opinionators: Obviously we all wanted Jeroen's music. But as with many many projects, can't always get what you want.

@Ventura: music is subjective, yes.
Just didn't get your humour, very very strange.

@Ventura: are you Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? ;)
Your jokes is hard to get. lol

Very hard words Ventura.
The lead and notes imo is not near the MoN quality. There is some nice chords here and there, but overall nothing memorable. Not exactly a "car tune".

Edit: some wild pitches in the "melody" ruins it, sorry.

@Ventura: This is not really the place for YOU to point fingers at someone else ;)

Shame the whole thing never happened, but this one part is nice. There are some really nice ideas on those screenshots.

Why is the mountain circling while the road is straight? And the car looks like it stands still, and someone is having a go in the back of it?!

@Hein: Here little mousy mouse. :)

That's some ugly music screwing the graphics from behind, which btw fits nicely to it. ;)

Yes, Very nice tune, and nice idea with driving the car to that tune.
That could be me, driving with cup of coffe in my hand :)

Actually, i think if you look deeper you will find its quite a bit of work to make this screen, Focus best coder is still active!

Like the quick-cut arrangement of the music. It reminds me of the change in Drexciya's The Journey Home. Also reminds me of a Dane tune, can't remember which atm. Nice visuals too.

showing artwork and ideas for a demo that youre too lazy to make... what a goddamn shame, and you should be ashamed! :)

Very nice! Only gripe is the white stripes in the middle of the road look very unfinished close to the car. No free sprites?

Thanks!
Indeed, i got scared a bit when viewing this page and seeing my name 4 times :) I just deleted the idea-part (imho ideas lead to concepts :).

I will post the 'concept' in word here tonight for those interested. It was supposed to become a combined concept + effect demo.

Mayor props to Lars for the amazing mountain animation! Just 4 frames...

It would be great to have a Test Drive-type game with graphics like that. Probably would be extremely slow, though.

I wouldn't say all 3 are the same, but Idea/Concept... I have my doubts about the significance of the difference.

About the production itself.. Not much to say, apart that I'm glad to see at least some of it made it beyond the stage of being a flash video.

Having watched the Flash animation, I wondered if it was actually possible on C64?

..as for what there is available to comment on:
The tune is really good.
The hires looks great, as is the mountain animation.

/switching back to the Flash animation

What’s the story about?
..from what I could gather: Bald headed bloke likes to Drink N’Drive..
..indulging in his passions..
..that also include, parachuting, knocking over telephone boxes, and outrunning the police..
