Final words for this release. Perhaps the trainer options are limited. +3 is all I had requested. Examining the Avatar trainers closely will reveal that many of them consist of individual routines that have specific functions. High quality trainers. Regarding a highscore saver, Insector Hecti the game itself contains no highscore table. There is only a reference to the creators of the game, having made record time mentioned after each level. The only version of this game to have attempted to add a highscore saver is by Brutal with the release of:
Inspector Hecti in the Inter Change +6PH
Their highscore saver is non functional as the game crashes after game over while it attempts to access the highscore saver routine.
For that matter, this game does not even keep score, so a highscore saver is a moot point.

On the subject of trainers, I was reading through the CSDB docs the other day about the rules for new cracks and it made me think...

Some trainers are given as a looong list of y/n questions, whereas others have a nice menu controlled via the joystick or cursor keys, and others have keys to set trainers on/off and prompt space/return to continue.

Personally, I am not a fan of pressing N six (or more) times in a row before loading a program - that seems pretty naff these days. For games with a lot of trainer options I think that the alternative methods should apply.

Also, it states in the rules that where a high score table is present, high score saving should be present for new cracks. And I think that is fair enough.

As for the loading pictures in avatar cracks, I think that is a nice addition to any game. But yeah, more work on the trainers in future releases would be nice (not that I tend to use them, but hey, I don't make the rules) ;)

I just don't understand why effort is put into making a loading pic for a game that never had one, and then spending no time adding trainers or high saver... I mean what's the point? I'm not hating, I just don't get it.

Nice intro anyways...

@Skate: I'm glad you liked the release. A while ago your intro whispered something into my ear. It went like: "A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."

I've coded the intro some time ago but the rest is a complete surprise for me. Good work guys, excellent job.

Thanks. I believe the nice coloring on the depack graphic was courtesy of Saehn/Style.

Weird game. Reminds me of an old coin-op, can't think of it. Amadar?

Lovely intro! Absolutely love the logo and all done with the borders (although I do think the swing swings a bit too far), great work! The 1x2 cset looks familiar ;)

On a side note. Great work on the depack screen Avatar Decrunching Graphics used in this release.

In this case the trainer options were made quickly in order to facilitate playtesting. To me they aren't really done for the purpose of "toys" for the gamer. It's fun to do a lot of options, but I don't always make that decision in this group. I see that a trainer does sometimes help the gamer on difficult games, or if the gamer is not particularly skilled ;) Nevertheless, I view things as crackers first priority, gamer second.

That being said, yes..the extra power up options could easily have been added.

Agree with The Ignorance. Many more trainers could have been added here, plus passwords. Nice job on the additional pics and the lovely intro :)

Tao: Thought the same some minutes ago. Avatar: I would like to see a bit more effort, old versions had +6 and a Highscoresaver. Only a small hint.

It's quite fascinating how all previous cracks of this game (including the one by me and Mayday) got the title wrong...

Yeah, I think it was due to using MS Paint to convert PNG to GIF...or perhaps the crummy freeware animated GIF program I emailed Andy. Anyway, thanks for the fix!

Updated screenshot with a better one (dunno what happened to that last one but it looked horrible).
