Maybe not everyone knows, but the original Ghosts & Goblins screen was a wire job from the Amstrad version. Steve Pickford never liked the c64 colour set so tended to try and avoid actually drawing on the machine. This version is also from the Amstrad source, but has been hand converted to the c64 and edited to fit its colour set and attribute limitations. The original c64 port is posted below to compare the two.

just a test I did while finishing the Amstrad Wizball screen.
That's a long time ago but at this time I don't care about that because it was only for my own BASIC game disk. As I transfer the whole content 1:1 to PC in 1995, I never had the chance to re-enter the original author as all my magazines has been sold, so I only set me as "graphic artist" for the title screen (the original doesn't have any title graphics). Thanks for the magazine scan, I will set the original author accoring the the article.

@Oswald: With regards to picture above, I do not see any limitations when it comes to the side border graphics. Black, Dark-grey, Green, Light-green are all that is required. After that it is all down to the skill of the artist. The sideboard graphics on the right side are particularly weak.

I sense a competition coming on. Heh.

This reminds me of a task we had to do in art class many years ago. We were required to pick a postcard, each of which featured an image by a famous artist, painter. The postcard was then glued to the centre of a blank piece of paper. We then had to extend the information outwards from the postcard. It was quite a challenge.
