I used "Derision" before the scene, on CBs and BBSs and stuff. There was some dude on a local BBS (Mirage/cyberwar) that was also calling himself Derision, so I used a variety of others until settling on Uzzy in 1992. With my luck, there turned out to be another guy in England named Uzzy, and who'd had the name much longer than I had. He eventually changed his handle (I don't know if that was because of me, but I hope not). I always felt a little weird about it, though, and just started reverting back to Derision at some point after 1999 or so.

[Sometime between 10/2003 (Vandalism News #40) and 8/2004 (Domination #19) he started using Derision as his handle contrary to what his database entry says (1999).]

I've also been a member of The Renegade Programming Group since 1994, and an organizer of the group since 1996 (as Uzzy). The start date of June 2000 represents the point that I changed handles in that group (there was apparently some overlap in which I used both, and I don't remember exactly when that ended, or if it actually ever did).
