NUFLI editing

So because of obviousness i took a shot at lowest effort conversions using Mufflon towards this NUFLI format. Regarding the example linked below, is there a way to color all the white pixels at once to yellow or another arbitrary color? I tried using NuFliEditorV1.2 but the experience was more like ultra confusing. I know there are severe restrictions, but: is there perhaps a non-cryptic other platform solution?

Usually converting image first to unrestricted c64 image with Timanthes, Project One or Retro Paint, then using MUFLON give decent results.

People also sometimes do reiterative process of painting, converting, changing glitches and converting again until they get decent result.

The problem with editing those formats are the extremely complex restrictions - which is why no editor exists that will let you do anything more complex than directly altering the pixels of bitmap and sprites (which again is very WTF).

So indeed, a couple iterations of converting/fixing is the way to go :)

I guess it would come in handy if Mufflon would have a bitmap as another input, that bitmap defining a mask of the input pixels that SHOULD or even MUST match the output? (Y/N) :)

In many cases filling those requirements would not be possible.

Of course. And then you have set the wrong or too many (adjacent/close) bits in the mask. Lather rinse repeat until good.

Thank you for your replies. I was already suspecting that there was a system behind the super crazy behaviour of the Editor i tried ( a true "this makes no seeeense" experience ) :-D

Not sure what you mean, the way the NUFLI editor works makes perfect sense. Of course, if you are just an artist not a coder, don't understand how amazing NUFLI is in providing almost IFLI like quality without flicker, it gets hard. You have to understand the format to work in the NUFLI editor, i.e. there is a background (paper), a foreground (ink) and the sprite layer is on top of the paper but behind the foreground. Not so hard?

Anyway, IMHO the editor is only meant to fix issues where Mufflon made the wrong decision. You have to work on your image on a PC tool like Timanthes or Multipaint or even just Photoshop. For Game Art Beyond, I had dozens of iterations of working on pic, converting, working, etc. I tried to reduce the error rate below 1000 before I switched to the NUFLI editor. The advantage with the editor is that you draw with restrictions active.
