FaceBook

Myspace had its day, and now it seems to be facebook's turn. I was wondering how many people are actually on there?.

i'm here : http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=731207638

if anyone want to add me, just leave a message with your "scene name".

i've also noticed lots of c64 related groups on there but no c64 applications?, who knows maybe if some of us join some one will create a c64 application even if its only a little sidplayer jukebox sort of thing.

@phantom: I try to keep it half/half english/german

it's weird having "real" life and scene in one ;)

@Rough: It's easy to maintain the real life aspect of life. Harder for me to keep the c64 aspect going. I often get bored and wander around aimlessly and before you know it, the day has gone.

My facebook is all english, or at least close to it, haha.

And for the record.. I just added 80+ paper drawings today. Dating from 1985-present day. I've more everywhere, just have to gather them and scan. Kinda wore myself out with the scanning today though, hahaha.

I only go on there just to contact friends (some who I haven't seen for years), add some odd photos, get tagged, or write some worth-reading statement on the "Wall". ... the rest is absolutely pointless and time wasting to me. Sorry if I deliberately deny being invited on these online games like Farmville, but that's because I have better things to do in my spare time than go on Facebook all day.

I remember being invited to Facebook by many people during the early years of when it first came out, but I denied the invitation because I had this horrible feeling that my privacy would be exposed to unknown people the world... this was 4-5 years ago!... funny how some people and the news have now only started to realise how dangerous Facebook can be! In Britain there's been many cases of manslaughter and attacks (and killings) thanks to people on Facebook. It's also caused many other problems like not performing well at work, kids not doing their GCSEs properly due to distraction with Facebook apps on their iPhones, etc etc etc. In fact most of the news I've been reading this year mentions Facebook (or Twitter) all the time. It just shows you that a lot of people in the world can't live without it now... pretty worrying if you ask me really... I wonder what would happen if Facebook was hijacked and became inaccessible? People would go ape-shit!

Just ignore it. The world will continue to spin. Even without a Facebook account. Or Myspace. Or the next big antisocial thing.

I've been through the "add everyone and his dog that you've ever been in touch with" phase and finally deleted that account because the background noise became too high. The whole idea of building up a network with more than hundred people didn't work for me at all. It even had a contrary effect, conversations flattened and "real" contact even halfway ceased with friends I used to call regularly.
Nowadays I have a new account which only serves to stay in touch with real good friends, part of them work or live abroad. During my Facebook abstinence of around 3 months I didn't miss most of the old Facebook friends (no offence, most of you were in my friendlist), except for a very few which I now readded.

after having used it for few days I can honestly advice to ignore Facebook, with 64 freaks I can get in contact here or irc, and "real" life friends usually use the good old telephone. The so much praised apps are one big joke and a lot of common features of similar communities are missing, site design, unlike myspace, is completely missing. I don't really get the hype except for that it's very easy to use.

... which is probably part of the reason "normal users" flock to it. Also the lemming factor can't be ignored.
